During the fourth edition of the Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam, the IHA Awards were presented. Kees Hensen and Mascha Smit from himgroup were jointly named Independent Hoteliers of the Year. Les Cabanes d'Ostende won the award for Independent Hotel of the Year.

The Outstanding Contribution Award was presented to Stephan Stokkermans, Managing Director of Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin. He received a specially designed artwork by MAIM. The award for Best Hotel Design this year went to design firm 5AM of Rosa Hotel, also in Oostende. Finally, an award was also given for the best hotel website of the year to Hotel Haarhuis in Arnhem.

It was the second time that the awards were presented in Amsterdam. The awards were made possible by Hotek. In London, where the Independent Hotel Show originated, these hospitality awards have been presented for much longer, and the award show has become a phenomenon. The awards were created to celebrate the category of 'independent hotels.' Globally, we see a tremendous growth of this type of hotels.

The Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam is the prime business event for managers of boutique and luxury hotels. In addition to over 200 exhibitors, there is an extensive seminar program that delves into the current developments in the industry. Besides Amsterdam, the boutique fair is also organized in Miami, London and Munich.
