The balance in the industry’s performance growth made more of a move toward demand and occupancy as opposed to rate in 2024. In the Benelux region, the move was even more pronounced with both independent and branded properties reporting decreases in average daily rate (ADR). While branded properties held rates more steady, independents reported a noticeable decline. The trend was similar in the Netherlands, but the shift in top-line performance was more pronounced when focusing in on Amsterdam, which is more reliant on the business travel and group segments.

Looking ahead, 31 key European markets are projected for 2.4% aggregated growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR), which represents a modest improvement from a +2.0% projection in November 2024. Despite the slight upgrade, projections for most markets are functionally unchanged from last quarter.
