5 questions with... The Hoxton Brussels
Describe the design of Hoxton Brussels in 3 words.
Vibrant, Moody, Sexy.
What is the relation between The Hoxton and AIME Studios?
AIME Studios is an integrated design studio and a part of Ennismore, the company behind The Hoxton and other lifestyle brands. As an in house Studio, we work hand in hand with The Hoxton team from the beginning of the design process from sketch layouts and material selections, through to installation and handover.
What part of the hotel are you most proud of?
We are most proud of the variety of spaces created within the building, each with their own identify. Our lobby is open and bright by day, yet moody and intimate by night. Cantina Valentina is more playful, less refined and feels totally immersive thanks to an impressive mural by local artist Madeleine Schilling. In our bedrooms, we used colour blocking to create defined zones within the unusually shaped rooms; separating the arrival space from areas for sleeping and relaxing, encouraging our guests to take in the jaw dropping views over Brussels. And the showstopper, Tope, from the moment you step out of the elevator on to the 22nd Floor, you are transported to a vibrant, sun-drenched destination, there is nowhere else quite like it in Brussels.
What makes The Hoxton Brussels unique?
The Hoxton brings a new take on a lifestyle hotel to Brussels. Every decision we made as designers aimed to create spaces welcoming for locals and travellers alike. For me, our collaboration with NATIONA(A)L, who were responsible for the incredible collection of artworks throughout the property, is totally unique and an amazing showcase for Brussels’ creative scene.
Why should the hotel industry vote for Hoxton Brussels as the winner of the IHA24 Awards?
Inspired by the Brutalist tower we inherited and it’s history as the former Headquarters of IBM in the 70’s, The Hoxton’s interiors are a true representation of authenticity in design. Couple this with an operations team at the top of their game, the property is the epitome of 21st Century lifestyle hospitality. And when you visit, ask for a tour of Working From, Ennismore's co-working space located within the building, it'll knock your socks off!
